Residential Development

The brief was to replace a warehouse on a small lane with four townhouses. A major consideration in this project was the need to create a street frontage and to provide adequate open space. Most of the street’s houses are single storey although the adjacent house is two storeys. The solution was to provide a transition between these differing forms with each house being a mix of one and two storeys. It was intended that the four houses, each with a vertical element, form an attractive rhythm along the lane. The houses have living spaces on the first floor and bedrooms on the ground floor. A large lobby foyer area is provided to allow for the storage of bicycles and refuse. This acts as a transitional zone between the street and the house. The living accommodation has distinct kitchen, dining and living areas and opens out onto the roof garden which read as an extension of the living space. An interior fit out design service was provided to complete the project.
